This is a luscious sweet you will not regret after making!!(Weight watchers may regret after finishing it off !!)..But believe me, these are so dainty and delectable..For those having a sweet tooth, it will be an unforgetable treat!!..I get so tempted to grab one piece each time I enter the kitchen.
1)Soft Butter--1/2 cup
2)Sugar----1 cup(powder it)
3)Plain Flour--3/4 cup
4)Baking Powder--2 tsp
6)Semolina (rava)--50 gms
7)Grated rind and juice of 3 large oranges
9)White Sesame seeds--2 tblsps
10)Nutmeg powder--3/4 tsp
INGREDIENTS FOR THE SYRUP GLAZE
2)Grated rind and juice of 1 large orange
3)Clear honey--2 tblsp
INGREDIENTS FOR SPRINKLING ON TOP OF THE DIAMONDS
1)White Sesame Seeds--1 large pinch
2)Strips of orange peel--of one orange
METHOD TO MAKE THE BASE
Grease a 10''/7''baking tin and keep aside..Cream butter and sugar till light and fluffy....Sift flour, baking powder, nutmeg powder and salt together and mix with semolina and sesame seeds.Fold it into the creamed mixture and spread it in the baking tray.. Bake in a preheated oven(170 degree) till the top is light brown and feels springy when touched..Remove from the oven.Pour and spread the syrup glaze on the surface..Sprinkle the sesame on top..Cool and cut into diamonds.. Decorate with orange strips.
To make the syrup,gently heat the sugar , orange juice and honey together for 3 mnts, till the sugar dissolves.. It should neither be too thick nor too thin.Pour the warm syrup over the hot base.
